The parish council is a
group of parishioners, chosen from and by
the parish community, who together with the
pastor, guide the direction of the parish,
oversee its pastoral activity and
temporal affairs as the community attempts
to fulfill the
mission of the church.
As a consultative body the parish council
fulfills purpose through the following
functions:

It continuously
examines the various aspects of the
life of the parish in light of the
parish mission statement.

It assesses parish
needs, determines priorities and
options to meet those needs with
available resources, and evaluates
programs and services designed to
meet parish needs.

It weighs issues
and proposes practical conclusions
to the pastor about them.

It develops policies
that serve to carry out the parish
mission.
As a member of the parish
one can nominate oneself or be nominated by
parishioners for election to the parish
council. Nominees have to be a baptized,
confirmed and a practicing Catholic eighteen
years or older. This process takes place in
the spring of the year.
